The Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestras are educational components of the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra (CSO). The orchestras offer students in the greater Charlotte area a unique performing experience, in which talented young musicians obtain musical training in a semi-professional ensemble setting.
The Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra is open to students in grades 8 through 12, although exceptions will be made for very advanced younger students to be members. The Youth Orchestra rehearses on Monday evenings from 5:30 to 8:00pm from late August to early May. The group performs an average of six concerts per year. All members are required to attend the 'free' summer camp during the first week of August. A limited number of merit and financial scholarships for private study are awarded each year by the Symphony Guild of Charlotte, Inc. The annual tuition is $325.
Exciting announcement! The
CSYO will be traveling to Washington, DC June 20-23, 2013 for
performance, masterclass, and sightseeing opportunities. Multiple
fundraising opportunities will be made available to CSYO to help defray
the estimated cost of $700 per student. The initial deposit of $100 will
be due upon CSYO acceptance on June 14, 2012.
